USAID/RTI LOCAL CAPACITY FOR LOCAL SOLUTION (LCLS) COMPREHENSIVE CAPACITY GRANT AWARD TO NEWLO
The New Life Organization (NEWLO) was awarded a USAID Local Capacity for Local Solutions (LCLS) Comprehensive Capacity Grant in partnership with the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) in November 2018.
There are three components to the grant funding:
- The development of a Three-Year Strategic Plan: 2019 – 2021: The Strategic Plan will (a) increase equitable access to skills development for NEWLO beneficiaries (b) improve the effectiveness in NEWLO’s management and operation and (c) increase internal efficiency and resources available to NEWLO.
- The production of a NEWLO Documentary. The will allow for the work of NEWLO become more visible to the general public: locally, regionally and internationally thus allowing for more support, increase and enhanced partnership and networking and sustainability of the organization. This will see NEWLO as a model for skills-based development, which can be replicated in other Caribbean countries. The Documentary will be a key marketing tool for the organization, so that vulnerable youths who wants to attend NEWLO, will be able to view the success stories of past NEWLO Trainees and thus be able to make an informed decision.
- The upgrading of the present NEWLO Website: The Website will serve as an online source; for present and potential beneficiaries, parents, stakeholders, donors and volunteers, professionals and the general public to obtain information on NEWLO’s program offerings, stories, activities and other relevant information needed. This will result in more visibility, support and information sharing for the general public on the work of the organization. Emphasis will be placed on advertising the present online computer courses being offered by NEWLO with CompTIA and Cisco Networking Academy and the new programs to come on stream.
All of the three components are presently in its implementation stage with two of the three workshops have already been held. The Consultancy Firm, Campeche International has been contracted to develop the Three-Year Strategic Plan, Protonic Solution will undertake the upgrading of the NEWLO Website and Pink Reel will be responsible for the production of the NEWLO Documentary.
It is envisaged that the partnership between USAID/RIT will develop NEWLO into a high performing organization towards the attainment of long-term sustainability. The Team from USAID/RTI is committed to providing the level of customization and mentorship that support the development of the skills and competences required for continued organizational growth beyond the life of the program. NEWLO is committed to the success of the project for the improvement in the operations and management and long-term sustainability of the Institution.
